ABOUT

The art collective and band APPARATJIK (Magne Furuholmen from a-ha, Guy Berryman from Coldplay, Jonas Bjerre from Mew and Martin Terefe), who settle themselves between music and art, regularly publishes their iPad magazine APPARATJIK WORLD. Interactivity and moving images are the key features of this medium. The question was how to bring the digital format into a printed one - the opposite way in a time where magazines are increasingly released in internet or mobile applications. What we did is a reinterpretation of the existing visual materials that is used for the iPad magazine and the internet. Further we created new artworks that round up the attitude SHOULD NOT BE ON DISPLAY.

We chose a Risograph MZ 770 to produce the magazine that is limited to 250 issues. What makes it very special is we had 4 colours for this Risograph to multicoloured prints. We did over 40,000 print runs on heavy uncoated paper. The 100 pages have a size of 405 x 287 mm. The pages are bonded with two metal clips and covered into glassine bags.
